Seeking advice

I have an ongoing dermatological problem and am wondering if anybody has had a
similar condition and could offer some advice.

The skin of my fingertips (several at a time) hardens during the course of
several days, and then it becomes yellowish, thicker and thicker, and
gradually loses sensitivity to touch. Only the fingertips are affected and
there is no itching at all. After a few days, tiny cracks develop here and
there and they are quite painful and annoying.
A layer of this thickened epithelium then starts to peel off, leaving brightly
pink and very sensitive skin underneath. After another few days, all of this
clears up and my fingertips look normal and healthy. A week or two later, the
whole cycle repeats itself. This has been going on for three years now. I have
seen at least four or five dermatologists and they were not able to offer
anything other than several ineffective ointments or creams.
The specialists are not even certain about the diagnosis, which varies between
eczema, psoriasis, and “it is hard to tell”. Other areas of my body are not
affected and I had never had any problems of such nature before. I am not
allergic to anything, I did not change anything in my lifestyle, I work in an
office and I do not have any contact with chemicals.

I will be grateful for any help.

Dammit!
I can't help with your problem excpet to say that Super (or Crazy)
glue will help seal the cracks and maybe hold the skin on longer so
the pain is lessened.
I do work with chemicals and sharp things and often cut myself.
Superglue works really well to hold together the flaps of skin and
keep chems out of my cuts.
For example, day before yesterday I ran a bur (like a tiny router) into
my fingertip. Bled like a stuck pig!
I wiped off the blood and put a drop of superglue on it...it's totally
painless...then scrubbed the dirt off my fingers with a brush and
ammonia water.
(Yeah, I know...I shoulda scrubed the dirt off first, but that woulda
hurt!) Anyway, it looks to be healing nicely.

Sounds like a fungus to me.

But four or five derms did not suggest this?????????

You can try the athelete's foot preparations at the local drugstore,
they might help, it's certainly worth a try, might want to wipe on
some ointment then wear cotton gloves for the night, or something like
that.

Hi! I too have the same problem. Cracking, thickening and peeling of
the skin on my fingertipes, mainly forefingers and thumbs. It's a
form of dermatitis and mine is caused by an allergy to milk and other
dairy. If I stay off it, it goes away. As soon as I have ice-cream
or something with dairy, it comes back in a few days. Perhaps yours
is also a food allergy. try eliminating dairy for two weeks and see
what happens.. (It takes 2 weeks for the proteins in the dairy to be
eliminated from your body - that's what causes the allergy). Good
Luck!

away in about a week.

Maybe your not pure enough?

But, do you have phosphatidylglycerol in your soaP?
